Summary

The total rainfall was 27.0 mm, which is 86% of the long-term median rainfall for March.

The mean maximum temperature was 26.2° C, which is 2.2° C warmer than the long-term mean maximum temperature for March.

The mean minimum temperature was 15.7° C, which is 1.5° C warmer than the long-term mean minimum temperature for March.

The mean maximum temperature of 26.2° C is a new record for the warmest March mean maximum temperature. The previous record was 25.2° C in 2024.

Monitoring

To check for consistency with nearby official stations, the daily maximum and minimum temperatures from the AWS are routinely compared to the BoM AWS at Laverton RAAF, whilst the daily rainfall from the standard rain gauge is compared to the BoM AWS at Laverton RAAF and the Melbourne Water rain gauge at Hoppers Crossing.

Notes

  1. Unless otherwise advised, temperature is given in degrees Celsius (° C) and rainfall in millimetres (mm).
  2. Our long-term averages and station records are based on all available data since 1 April 2017. All annual data are based on complete calendar years commencing in 2018.
  3. If a station record is equalled, the record passes to the most recent date to conform to standard BoM practice.
  4. Variation from long-term is the difference between the recorded value and the long-term monthly average.
    • For most meteorological elements, the mean is the standard measure of the average.
    • For rainfall, the median is the preferred measure of the average, particularly if there is a small volume of data.
